Charlotte County deputy responding to a domestic call shot, killed
A Charlotte County deputy responding to a domestic call at the Lakes of Tuscana Apartments on Veterans Boulevard in Port Charlotte was shot and killed Monday night.
He has been identified as Cpl. Michael Wilson, 42, a 20 year veteran of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly after midnight, with assistance from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, entry was made into the apartment of the suspect in the shooting.
The person believed to be the shooter was found dead inside, officials said.
The investigation into the shooting continued throughout the night.
