Services today for accident victim
Services will be held today for a Cape Coral motorcyclist who died Friday following a crash.
Miguel Gonzalez Jr., 20, of 4109 S.W. 15th Ave., succumbed to his injuries at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken following the accident Thursday at Chiquita Boulevard and Trafalgar Parkway.
According to Cape police, Gonzalez was traveling north on Chiquita on a 2002 Honda motorcycle. At about 9:13 p.m., a southbound 2012 Nissan Pathfinder attempted to turn left onto Trafalgar. The motorcycle entered the intersection, colliding into the Nissan’s passenger side.
Gonzalez was ejected from the motorcycle as a result of the impact.
He sustained life-threatening injuries and was trauma-alerted to the hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Nissan, Nicholas B. Arroyo, 17, of 1717 S.E. Fifth Place, and his passengers were treated on scene Thursday but declined further medical treatment, according to police.
The crash is reportedly not alcohol or drug related.
Officials noted that there were no signs or clues of impairment from either driver.
A funeral service for Gonzalez will be held at 11 a.m. at Cape Christian Fellowship, with burial to follow at the Coral Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church after 9:30 a.m.
