CCPD: Police take down marijuana grow house
Cape Coral police have arrested a Broward County man after detectives say they uncovered a marijuana grow house operation in a residence he was renting in Cape Coral
Cape Coral Police narcotics detectives have arrested Ricardo Cardenas, 32, and charged him with trafficking marijuana out of a home at 4520 S.W. 12th Place.
Cape Coral police executed a search warrant on the home and detained Cardenas, who was inside. Detectives discovered an elaborate marijuana growing operation inside of the home; 241 pounds of marijuana were found along with equipment used to grow the drug, officials said in a prepared statement released Monday morning.
Cardenas, who has an address in Broward County, rented the Cape Coral home and came to check on it routinely, officials said. Detectives interviewed Cardenas who reportedly admitted that the marijuana plants and grow house equipment were indeed his.
Cardenas was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana, operating a grow house and possession of paraphernalia. He was then taken to the Lee County Jail where he remained in custody early Monday.
