Cape man dies after his motorcycle is hit from behind
A Cape Coral man died Sunday after a vehicle rear-ended the motorcycle that he was driving.
Julio Triguero, 28, of 2647 S.W. 35th Lane, died at 10:07 p.m. at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was transported following the accident on Del Prado Boulevard South, according to Cape police officials.
At 9:27 p.m., Triguero was driving a 2013 Taoi motorcycle south on Del Prado in the inside lane when a 2006 Volvo rear-ended him, for unknown reasons, in the 1100 block at a high rate of speed. The impact threw Triguero backward onto the Volvo, and he struck the vehicle’s hood, windshield and roof.
Triguero’s body came to rest in the middle of the southbound lanes, officials reported.
The Taoi and the Volvo came to rest near Southeast 13th Street, one block south.
Triguero was trauma-alerted to the hospital with life threatening injuries, but later died from them.
The driver of the Volvo, William Reynaud Siddons, 26, of 15893 Briar Cliff Lane, Fort Myers, sustained minor injuries in the crash. According to officials, he was not transported to a hospital.
While on scene, Siddons reportedly showed signs of impairment.
Officials reported that the accident is alcohol or drug related.
There is no evidence that Triguero was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
