Barbara Watt Foundation raffles trike motorcycle for charities

The Barbara Watt Foundation has raffled off a trike motorcycle to benefit three local charities.
Philanthropists Barbara Watt-Biggs and Bob Biggs donated their trike to the Barbara M. Watt Foundation.
Barbara, the owner of Century 21 Sunbelt Owner and her husband, Bob, had purchased the trike for themselves, but were unable to keep it where they live.
“Bob and I thought since Trike motorcycles have become so popular this would be a great thing to donate to raise money,” said Barbara Watt-Biggs in a prepared statement. “I am passionate about my community. We have so many worthwhile charities, it was challenging for me to choose who to raise money for.”
For the past several months Century 21 Sunbelt agents and staff have been selling $5 raffle tickets. Joni Johnson, who oversees many of Barbara’s fund-raising initiatives, attended events like Fort Myers Bike night, Red, White & Boom and the Weekly Bike Nights at The Joint.
In the end, Watt-Biggs chose Wounded Warriers, Easter Seals of Florida and the Cape Coral Community Foundation to be the recipient of the proceeds. 100 percent of what was collected was donated.
The drawing for the 2011 Suzuki Burgman 400 Trike took place on July 9. The drawing was done at The Joint in Cape Coral.
With hundreds of tickets filling a spinning drum, one ticket was drawn. The winner was Marco Island resident Steven Purcell.
On July 12 the winner arrived at the office of Century 21 Sunbelt in Cape Coral to pick up and take home his prize.
“This is incredible!” Purcell said, sitting on his new Trike. “I am so happy to have helped out Barbara and her local charities. I will love traveling around the Isle of Capri and Marco Island on my new motorcycle.”
2013 is proving to be another impressive year for Barbara Watt-Biggs, officials there said. Not only has Century 21 Sunbelt continued its success in the real estate market with offices covering five counties but the Barbara M. Watt Foundation has been successful in helping out many worthy causes. Watt-Biggs is already working on what 2014 will be from a charitable and business perspective.
“2014 will be another great year!” she said.
As a major sponsor for Rumrunners Celebrity Chef Night celebrates, (10th Anniversary) Aug, 22, Barbara Watt-Biggs would like to invite everyone to contribute and support “Helping Kids with Cancer.”
