Woman charged with making methamphetamine in her home

A Cape Coral woman is accused of making methamphetamine in a home with children present.

Dawnette Nichole Eash, 30, was arrested and charged Thursday with drugs produce possess structure vehicle know drugs manufactured minor present, amphetamine traffick or methamphetamine 14 grams or over and drugs produce methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of specified area, according to records.

As of Friday, she was being held at the Lee County Jail on $90,000 bond.

At 5 p.m. Thursday, Cape police executed a search warrant at Eash’s residence, located in the 3600 block of Country Club Boulevard. Once inside, detectives located materials used to cook meth, along with 33.5 ounces of the drug, officials reported. Four children were also present inside of the home.

Eash reportedly admitted that she manufactures the drug at home for her own use.

She was taken into custody and transported to the county jail.

The Department of Children and Families responded and took custody of the children.

An environmental services company removed the hazardous waste from the home.

According to an arrest report, Eash stated that she did not sell methamphetamine. She said she comes from a family that has all been involved in cooking meth, and that she learned from her husband.

A woman who answered Eash’s telephone Friday declined to comment.

“For someone to cook meth in a home where children live is not only disgusting and sad, it is extremely dangerous,” Lt. Tony Sizemore, spokesman for the Cape police, said Friday in a prepared statement. “For these kids to be exposed to these potentially deadly chemicals is staggering.

“To compound the situation, she was mixing these explosive materials a mere 800 feet from a pre-school,” he continued. “This type of situation is totally unacceptable in Cape Coral, which is why our detectives work so tirelessly on these investigations.”

Eash has a court appearance set for July 29.
