Cape man, another charged in drug bust
At 4:28 p.m. Friday, the Fort Myers Police Department conducted a search warrant at 3653 Madison Ave., Apt. A, according to officials. The investigation stemmed from a two-month investigation initiated by detectives who were contacted by community policing officers for the area about the problem.
Police seized a variety of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia used for weighing and packaging the drugs, including 4.9 grams of “crack” cocaine or 66 pieces, 12.5 grams of cocaine Hcl, 3.6 grams of MDMA or 11 pills – commonly referred to as mollies – and 94.0 grams of marijuana packaged for street distribution.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $6,250.
Brian Lee Sturgis, 27, of 132 S.E. 16th Place, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia.
James Lorenzo Oliver, 41, of 3653 Madison Ave., Apt. A, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana and MDMA with the intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both men are registered felons, according to officials. More charges are pending the result of the investigation.
