Breeze to advance weekend edition
To better serve our readers and advertisers, the publication day for the Saturday Breeze will advance one day beginning next week.
The weekend edition of The Breeze will publish on Fridays beginning April 19. The publication day of the midweek edition will be unchanged and will continue to publish on Wednesdays.
“An earlier publication date for the weekend edition will allow us to deliver the news our readers want in a more timely fashion,” said Scott Blonde, publisher.
“Cape Coral readers, as do readers throughout the communities we serve, have a strong interest in not only what has happened but in what is coming up. That is why our editors put a strong emphasis on advance stories on upcoming community events, government and organizational meetings, and things to do. That is also why we devote a significant amount of space to our community calendars.
“A Friday publication date will give our readers extra time to plan their weekend so as to take advantage of all the great things made possible by Cape organizations, volunteers and businesses,” he said.
The change in publication day will be partnered with a continued commitment to breaking news via the newspaper’s Web site, cape-coral-daily-breeze.com.
“We also take great pride in our longstanding role as the provider of ‘news of record’ and breaking news, including high school sports, to the residents of Cape Coral,” Blonde said. “Our change in publication day will not weaken that commitment but will strengthen it. Game reports will pre-publish on-line. The Friday print edition will continue to provide our readers with the schedules and also will look ahead to key games.”
Advancing the publication day is part of a continuing effort to improve Cape Coral’s hometown paper, Blonde added.
In the last year, The Breeze has upped the number of sections, included the insertion of the popular Lee County Shopper and, at reader request, concentrated on increasing the number of sales inserts and flyers in the weekend edition.
The Breeze has also significantly increased the paper’s range of advertising options to better meet the needs of the local business community, including the addition of a glossy “wrap.”
Theses efforts have been well received in the community.
“We are very grateful to our readers and advertisers for recognizing the improvements we have introduced,” Blonde said. “We believe our latest initiative will be welcomed as well. We remain strongly committed to Cape Coral and to making sure our paper is reflective of Cape needs.”
