Barge Party VII to be held April 27, 28 off Pine Island

2 min read

Sandbar Productions LLC is hosting another barge party at the end of the month featuring four bands.

Jim Frock, with Sandbar Productions, said they will release a map the week of the concert to show individuals where they can anchor their boats, as well as how those who attend can help protect the grass beds.

When boats are operated properly, the scaring of seagrass can be prevented. If seagrass is scarred it can take more than 20 years to recover.

Seagrass plays an important role in the environment by providing shelter for fish, crustaceans and shellfish; food for animals; maintains the water clarity; stabilizes the bottom of shallow waters; as well as provides a healthy environment for fish.

Barge Party VII will be held Saturday, April 27, from 12-6 p.m., and Sunday, April 28, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. The event will take place at Two Pines Sand Bar in Matlacha Pass, which is located 1/2 mile east of marker #79.

The party will feature Grayson Rogers Band, Rex Bongo and the Damn Outlaws, Corkey and the Troublestarters and Bryan Lee and Blues Power.

Donations to attend are $20 per boat and $5 per person. The proceeds of the event will go towards Pine Island Little League.
