Motorcyclist injured in March 13 crash improving

2 min read

A motorcyclist is improving at a hospital more than a week after he was ejected from his bike when a van apparently pulled out in front of him.

A Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by Brenda Ramos, 43, of 2126 S.E. 18th Ave., was traveling northbound on Hancock Creek Boulevard at about 7:03 a.m. March 13 when it came upon Pine Island Road, according to officials.

Ramos proceeded north across the eastbound lanes of Pine Island before stopping in the median, police reported. A vehicle heading westbound on Pine Island then pulled into the south turn lane beside Ramos, blocking her view.

At the same time, Clark was westbound on a Yamaha motorcycle.

According to police, Ramos attempted to continue traveling northbound across the westbound lanes of Pine Island and drove in front of Clark. The motorcycle skidded before colliding into the passenger’s side of the van.

As a result of the impact, Clark was ejected from the Yamaha.

He sustained life threatening injuries to his head and was trauma-alerted via ambulance to the hospital, officials reported. Ramos was not injured.

It appears Clark was not wearing a helmet during the accident.

Police stated that the crash does not appear alcohol or drug related.

The investigation continues.
