2 min read

A motorcyclist remained hospitalized Thursday after he crashed into a vehicle that pulled out in front of him and was ejected from his bike.

Earl Raymond Clark III, 46, of 458 Ellis St., North Fort Myers, was listed in critical condition at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was trauma alerted.

A Dodge Grand Caravan, driven by Brenda Ramos, 43, of 2126 S.E. 18th Ave., was traveling northbound on Hancock Creek Boulevard at about 7:03 a.m. Wednesday when it came upon the intersection at Pine Island Road.

Ramos proceeded north across the eastbound lanes of Pine Island before stopping in the median, police reported. A vehicle heading westbound on Pine Island then pulled into the south turn lane beside Ramos, blocking her view.

At the same time, Clark was westbound on a Yamaha motorcycle.

According to police, Ramos attempted to continue traveling northbound across the westbound lanes of Pine Island and drove in front of Clark. The motorcycle skidded before colliding into the passenger’s side of the van.

As a result of the impact, Clark was ejected from the Yamaha.

He sustained life threatening injuries to his head and was transported via ambulance to Lee Memorial, police reported. Ramos was not injured.

It appears Clark was not wearing a helmet at the time, police reported.

The crash does not appear alcohol or drug related, according to police.

The investigation continues.
