Woman dies from injuries suffered in Friday car crash
A Cape Coral driver who was critically injured last week after she pulled out in front of another vehicle has died of her injuries, according to officials.
Linda Jean Toole, 66, was pronounced dead at 6:52 p.m. Friday at Lee Memorial Hospital, where she was taken following Thursday’s crash.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, she was headed north on state Route 45 (U.S. 41) in a Toyota Prius. At 11:30 a.m., she came upon the intersection at state Route 78 and tried to make a left turn.
She reportedly attempted the turn in front of a Ford F-350 that was traveling south on SR 45, violating that driver’s right of way.
The front of the Ford struck the right side of the Toyota.
Toole sustained critical injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The driver of the Ford, Jason Lee Walters, 21, of North Fort Myers, sustained minor injuries in the accident. He was not transported.
FHP officials reported Tuesday that no charges will be filed in the crash.
