County-provided health service interruption on Friday for move
The Lee County Health Department is cancelling most services provided at the primary location on Michigan Avenue for Friday, Oct. 5, to ensure the safety of the clients during the move to temporary facilities for renovation work. Only X-ray will continue to see clients on Michigan Avenue Friday.
All services will resume at their temporary location Monday morning during regular business hours.
Friday, staff, equipment and supplies are moving to temporary sites at the newer North Fort Myers office and to a modular building behind the permanent Michigan Avenue structure during building renovations.
Immunizations, Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and TB skin tests will be available in the health department clinic at 83 Pondella Road. Women Infants and Children services, as well as X-ray, will continue to serve clients at 3920 Michigan Avenue.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our clients,” said Judith Hartner, MD, director. “We had hoped to make the move without disrupting services.”
Family Health Centers, Lee Memorial Health Systems and private practitioners offer clinics that may be able to service client needs during the one day closure.
As always, it is recommended that clients schedule an appointment by calling (239) 461-6100 for family planning and STD or (239) 344-2000 for WIC. Immunizations and TB skin test clients will continue to be served on a walk in basis.
