Bonita Beach Road lanes shift to south overnight Monday, Oct. 1

1 min read

Lee County, FL (September 27, 2012) – During the nighttime/overnight hours on Monday, October 1, crews will shift all Bonita Beach Road traffic (including pedestrian and bicycle) to the south side of the roadway. This shift is necessary for crews to work on the north side of Bonita Beach Road for the next several months. Motorists entering the road from the south side streets are advised to use extra caution as ALL stop signs and stop bars will have been moved south. With this traffic configuration, eastbound traffic will be traveling in close proximity to the south curb. Posted speed during this phase is 35 MPH.

Lee County continues work to widen existing Bonita Beach Road from four to six lanes from Old 41 to Lime Street. This project, jointly funded by Lee County Department of Transportation and the City of Bonita Springs, completes the six-laning of Bonita Beach Road from Old 41 to I-75 and adds a bike lane and sidewalk in each direction. Bicycle and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the project; however, it may be limited to one side of Bonita Beach Road. PLEASE DRIVE WITH CARE and be aware of heavy equipment entering/exiting the roadway.
