LCSO: Body found Monday identified as Cape man

A body found Monday morning has been positively identified as Christopher Mark Brothers, 50, of Cape Coral.

Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit are investigating the death as a homicide, officials reported. No specific details as to the manner of death were being released as of Tuesday afternoon.

At 8:57 a.m., the LCSO received a call about a body found near the intersection of West 18th Street and Edison Avenue. A passerby found a man lying off the roadway on the north side. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Due to the nature of the incident, detectives were assigned to investigate. Crime scene technicians responded to the scene to document and collect potential evidence. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death.
