Southwest Florida’s fifth annual Zombicon recently announced this year’s theme: Legends of the Silver Screen Never Die.

Zombies and the undead attending the largest gathering of zombies every year should think “Old Hollywood” when preparing their costumes for the “Dead Carpet.”

Examples of the silver screen include Clark Gable, Gene Kelly, John Wayne, James Dean, Julie Andrews, Mae West, Shirly Temple, Audrey Hepburn, Ginger Rogers, Grace Kelly or just come as your own version of Old Hollywood!

This year, coordinators said they will be attempting to break the world record for the largest gathering of zombies in one spot.

A Kiss Me/Kill Me professional make-up booth will be open on-site to Zombify the undead, with airbrushing available this year.

Also, a “Walk like a Zombie” workshop will be held in front of the Arcade Theater before the Zombie Walk so you can learn how to act like a professional zombie.

Zombicon merchandise will be available at a merch booth, and zombie cup drink specials are being offered at many establishments within the area.

Live entertainment from bands, musicial performers, fire dancers and drummers will take place during the local convention as well.

Everyone attending is asked to bring canned food for entry or donate blood on site.
