ARC calendar launch party Sept. 24

3 min read

If you have a pet lover on your holiday list, you may want to do some early shopping at the launch party for the printed version of the Animal Refuge Center Pet Pin-Up 2012 Photo Calendar.

The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Discount Pets and Supplies in Cape Coral.

One of the area’s largest shelters, North Fort Myers-based ARC hopes calendar sales will again be a big part of their fund-raising efforts as it was last year, the first year of the calendar.

“We have invited winners, all who entered, all the advertisers who supported us and more,”said ARC Board Trustee Diane Zabell. “We will also have ARC rescues there hoping to find them homes.”

The top winner of the calendar contest was ‘Gracie At The Beach’,” she said. “That was after thousands of votes were tabulated.”

Winners received a photo shoot by local SandBar Photo-graphy. Other prizes were donated by Paw-radise Estero Pet Grooming and Bakery, Tender Magic Pet Grooming, Cassandra M. Designs and PETCO.

“Arthur Printing in Cape Coral put together a collage of the entries,” said Zabell. “Every pet is a winner in their owner’s eyes.”

Board members Tracey Hendershtt and Bonney Leckey will also be on hand to talk about adoption opportunities at ARC at the calendar launch.

“The calendar is also available online now at animalrefuge.com and will be at the Animal Refuge Center, selected business establishments and at all ARC events including our Starlight Auction on Nov. 26,” said Zabell.

That auction event is the largest fund-raiser for the group all year, always held over Thanksgiving weekend. It is popular for those who have guests in town that weekend – for a luxurious event and stay at the Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa for supporters, guests and family alike.

Zabell said she hopes the community will help by supporting the calendar, and turning out for the premiere event.

Discount Pets and Supplies is at 211 Hancock Bridge Parkway, # 4, just just east of Santa Barbara Boulevard in Cape Coral. The number is 573-7613.
