Pulmonary and critical care medicine physician accepts position of chief medical officer at Lee Memorial Health System
Scott D. Nygaard, MD, MBA accepted the position of chief medical officer – Physician Services with Lee Memorial Health System and relocated to Southwest Florida this month.
Nygaard will serve as the health system liaison with independent community physicians and will work closely with employed and contracted physicians to align physician and administrative leadership.
Most recently Nygaard served Wichita Kansas residents and visitors as senior vice president of Corporate Services at Via Christi Health, a fully integrated health system with 9000 employees and five acute care hospitals.
Nygaard is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care. He is a Diplomate with the American Board of Medicine, an associate of the American Thoracic Society, and Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.
He earned his B.A. at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, Summa Cum Laude, and completed medical school at the University of Minnesota. In 2004 Nygaard earned his MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN.
