County awards contract to replace traffic signal at Estero Boulevard and Old San Carlos Boulevard
The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted Tuesday to award a contract for traffic signal and related repairs at the intersection of Estero Boulevard and Old San Carlos Boulevard in Fort Myers Beach.
The work is intended to repair damage caused by Hurricane Ian on Sept. 28, 2022. It will include removing and replacing all wiring, installing new electrical service and load center, new traffic signal controller assembly, new signal heads, new video detection system, new pedestrian signal assemblies and refreshed pavement markings. This work incorporates resiliency measures to elevate electrical signal equipment and better protect it from water damage.
The low-bid contract for the work was awarded to DPI Experts LLC in the amount of $332,366.
Lee County DOT worked with the federal government for hurricane repairs in order to receive reimbursement so that local taxpayers do not incur all the expenses. The project will be funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Disaster Relief Fund. Construction is expected to begin in June and be completed in September.
