Jane Luchi, vice president of Restore Fort Myers Beach Arches, has passed
Jane Luchi, who used her storefront at Bridgett’s Place on San Carlos Boulevard as a gathering hub to support the Restore Fort Myers Beach Arches group, has died.
She passed on Dec. 30.
Luchi, who was vice president of the organization, had been battling cancer according to Resort Fort Myers Beach Arches President Steven Ray McDonald.
“Jane was a local Fort Myers Beach point of contact for Resort Fort Myers Beach Arches,” McDonald said. “For our organization, she will be hard to replace. Talk about somebody who was giving.”
McDonald said that Luchi opened up her store, which sells furniture and home decor items, for meeting and fundraisers to support the restoration of the Arches. She dedicated space in the store to educating visitors about the Arches and the group’s work. “We grew our group through Jane.”
He said she was looking forward to attending the group’s Rock the Arches music festival in April. Her store is continuing to be run by her family, McDonald said.
“She’s irreplaceable,” McDonald said. “To me, she’s the best of Fort Myers Beach.”
A Celebration of Life potluck will be held from noon to 3 p.m.on Sunday, Jan. 19, at Matanzas on the Bay, Jane’s favorite restaurant. The Celebration of Life will be held on the front waterside in the event area between the restaurant and the cottages. Attendees are invited to bring a dish to share. The inn is at 414 Crescent St.
