Annual Halloween event at Beach Baptist is Thursday

Beach Baptist Church will hold its ninth annual Trunk-or-Treat Halloween evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and the community is invited.
Pastor Shawn Crister said it is not a church event, but rather the church throwing a true Halloween party for the community.
The event will feature a live DJ, carnival games, a blowup obstacle course, haunted house, and of course trunk-or-treat out of about 20 decorated trunks.
There will be prizes to be won at such games as dart throwing, the duck pond and ping pong.
There will be concessions including flavored ice cones, cotton candy and popcorn, as well as hamburgers, hot dogs, churros and homemade fry chips.
“Come early. The food is ready at 6,” he said.
Drinks will also be provided.
Crister said it is all for “absolutely zero dollars. We don’t even take donations.”
“We usually average about 500 kids every year. There will be another 250 to 300 adults hanging around. No one really trick-or-treats on the island, except from here,” he explained. “We have people travel in from Fort Myers.”
Crister said it is fun to watch everybody come together and have a good party. He said the attendees will trick-or-treat, stroll a couple of streets in the neighborhood – down the Connecticut Street section – before coming back to the church to have dessert.
“It’s an all evening event to come and hang out,” Crister said. “It’s a community event.”
Beach Baptist Church is at 130 Connecticut St.
