‘Putting for Progress’: Fundraiser at JungleGolf set for Labor Day weekend

2 min read

Mini-golfers, get ready to tee off this Labor Day weekend for a good cause – three of them, in fact. JungleGolf is again hosting its Putting for Progress Charity Fundraiser.

JungleGolf General Manager Chris Frizzell said the annual Putting for Progress Charity Fundraiser culminates Labor Day weekend, although they take donations throughout the whole month of August.

“One hundred percent of the donations and 5 percent of the proceeds from the holiday weekend go directly to three charities,” he said. “There are three different miniature golf organizations that get together and work on this. There are 28 golf courses that take part in this fundraiser from Maine to Michigan to the south here where we are.”

The charities that will benefit this year include Bellxcel, formally the Bell Foundation, The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, and the donor choice, Fort Myers Beach Elementary School.

This is the seventh year JungleGolf has participated in Putting for Progress.

“In the seventh year we have raised over $230,000. Our goal this year is to top $300,000 for the total,” Frizzell said.

It’s quite simple for the community to help raise funds for the three charities. All they have to do is stop at JungleGolf, 17710 San Carlos Blvd., through Monday and make a donation at the center, or play a round of golf.

“Every donation qualifies for a complimentary bottle of water. Families with children, we have bottles of water with coupons for a free child with a paying adult,” he said. “A $5 donation in name of the child (will give them a coupon for a) child to play for free.”

If a family donates in the name of another child they will receive $10.75, a coupon for anytime in the future. The coupon is on the label of the water bottle.

“A young couple without children who donate a dollar, they can get a cold bottle of water,” Frizzell said.

The last day JungleGolf will take donations is Monday, Sept. 2.

“Even if they don’t donate and just come out that weekend and join us for miniature golf, 5 percent of Saturday, Sunday and Monday will go to the charity. Just coming in on the holiday weekend will be enough to help out,” he said.
