Christmas is a wonderful time for family and good tidings, so the Fort Myers Beach Library decided they wanted to celebrate in July, too.

Described as “a way of sharing Christmas during the quieter times,” Thursday’s event was a good chance to get an early taste of the holiday season, complete with cookies, trees and, of course, a meet-and-greet with one of the North Pole’s favorite dignitaries.

“It’s a fun event for the younger crowd, even though we have plenty of older foot traffic that come through and enjoy the decorations and that little taste of Christmas,” Cletus Poser, the director for the library, said.

The event started off with a scavenger hunt that led participants through the different floors of the facility, giving attendees a tour of the children’s section, the reference section, the impressive puzzle room, and a lot of the history and classical fiction sections.

Christmas cookies and punch were served on the top floor which offered several mini-trees decorated in a variety of styles.

Maria van Boekel does the planning for the event, making sure the stations are ready for the visits from Mrs. Claus.

There wasn’t a lack of cheer from any of the crowd of kids, all of whom seemed more than excited to meet Mrs. Claus and to eat their Christmas cookies.
