Nauti Parrot Dock Bar to host first-ever LGBTQ celebration on Fort Myers Beach

2 min read

Nauti Parrot Dock Bar will hold its inaugural Pride celebration this Saturday, from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. This will be the first time that a Pride event has been held on Fort Myers Beach. Pride organizations/celebrations take a stance against violence and discrimination in the LGBTQ community.

The Nauti Parrot wants to welcome all individuals, regardless of background or sexual orientation, organizers said, adding the goal of this event is to give individuals the opportunity to meet like-minded people in a safe and fun environment.

“We noticed all of the different pride events happening in SWFL, all of which are at least 30 minutes away,” said general manager Tyler Geib. “We wanted to offer the (Pride) event in this locale.”

In the wake of the Stonewall Riots 50 years ago, leaps have been made for the acceptance and equality of the LGBTQ community with the help of Pride organizers and the support they have received from their local communities. This event is not only celebrating Pride, it is commemorating the Stonewall Riots – which constitutes as the most important event leading to the gay liberation movement.

“I think it’s awesome that the Nauti Parrot is not only celebrating Pride, but also showing that they are LGBTQ friendly,” said Heather Lodovico, a Fort Myers Beach resident and member of the LGBTQ community. “I hope other Fort Myers Beach businesses do the same. Fort Myers Beach should be a safe space for all who live and visit.”

The Pride event’s entertainment will feature a drag show, dance music from DJ Smokey of Fort Myers from 8 p.m. to midnight, and DJ Pat Pat of Naples from midnight to 2 a.m.

There will be a balloon drop, full-service bar, a remembrance of Stonewall and a promised safe zone for all who attend.

Pre-registration is available on Facebook or by phone at 239-314-5667 for $8, and tickets will be $12 the day of the event.

Nauti Parrot will donate part of the proceeds for this event to an LGBTQ organization.

The Nauti Parrot is at 19001 San Carlos Blvd., on Fort Myers Beach.
