Death investigation under way
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after a body was found near the water on Fort Myers Beach this morning.
The deceased male was found near 2580 Estero Boulevard.
According to a witness, the body was face down in the sand at 9 a.m. The witness said that it appeared the body, which was discovered fully dressed and wearing a backpack and sandals, had been there for a few hours. The witness said that the body was recovered soon after, at around 9:30 a.m. after deputies arrived. Officers with Florida Fish and Wildlife were also present.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office stated that they saw no signs of foul play and do not believe this to be a homicide.
