Three transported to hospital after boating incident with non-life threatening injuries

Three individuals were transported to local hospitals Sunday evening after their vessel ran aground outside of a channel off Fort Myers Beach.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Public Information Director Melody Kilborn said FWC received a call from Lee Control at around 8 p.m. Sunday evening, April 28 regarding a 38 foot cabin cruiser. The preliminary reports state that the vessel ran aground outside of the channel with six people on board.

One female and one male were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the second male was transported to Health Park, again with non-life threatening injuries. She said they were all okay.

The incident occurred at Matanzas Pass and Bowditch Park Point with an address of 50 Estero Blvd.

Kilborn said FWC is actively investigating the incident.
