The Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation honored the beneficiaries of its yearly fundraisers last Wednesday at the Mound House.

The Foundation raised about $36,000 with two fundraisers in January and April. This money went to finance scholarships and local charities.

“Each year we raise the bar,” said Sheryl Bowman, president of the Foundation. “We feel very successful.”

Recipients of the charitable donations included Ostego Bay Foundation and Choice Market Food Pantry, as well as seven other charities.

Scholarships went to nine students. 32 children also received funds to attend local summer camps.

“The hope is to make life on Fort Myers Beach a little better,” Bowman said.
