Salty Sam’s Pirate Cruise to delight Star Wars fans
A unique adult-themed cruise is being held aboard the Salty Sam’s Pirate Cruise for all the Star Wars enthusiasts next month.
The 90-minute cruise will depart from the docks at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 4. Tickets are $25 a person and can be purchased at Salty Sam’s Marina, 2500 Main St., or at www.floridapiratecruise.com. The cruise is for those 21 years old or older.
Marketing director David Kastan said they sold out last year and are anticipating selling out again this year. He said those who are interested should definitely purchase tickets ahead of time.
Kastan said they are always looking for creative themed cruises to do. The idea for this cruise stemmed from Pieces of Eight Pirate Ship Captain Stephen Sepulveda, who is a huge Star Wars fan.
“I am a Star Wars fan myself, so I can’t tell you how excited I am for this event,” Sepulveda said in a prepared statement. “I can’t wait for all the people at the beach to look out on the water and see a bunch of lightsabers on our boat.”
May the Fourth Be With You, or “Stars Wars Days” has become a holiday for many Star Wars fans around the globe, which is why the Pirates of the Pieces of Eight will celebrate the holiday by inviting their guests to dress in their Star Wars themed costumes and bring their lightsabers aboard the ship.
Kastan said it’s quite the spectacle looking out towards the water and seeing all the lightsabers on the deck.
The cruise will include special Star Wars cocktails, Star Wars trivia, a costume contest for the best men’s, women’s and couple’s costume, music and dancing. Kastan said the Red Headed Witches Costume Shop in Cape Coral provided the gift certificates for the costume contest winners.
The Star Wars trivia game will go on throughout the cruise, Kastan said, and the winner will win some sort of prize.
Once the cruise returns at 8:30 p.m., he said the after party usually continues at Parrot Key Caribbean Grill, 2500 Main St.
