Last Shrimp Dinner of the season

The St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church annual Gulf pink shrimp dinner will conclude for the season the first Saturday of April.
The dinner, which requires no reservations, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at 5601 Williams Drive. It is $20 per person for all-you-can-eat shrimp. The meal also includes homemade coleslaw, baked beans, cornbread and two drink tickets. Beer and wine tickets are available.
Ross Miller, with St. Raphael’s, said the pink Gulf shrimp is always excellent.
“People keep coming,” he said, adding that February they hit a record attendance of 345 people in just two hours. “Everyone is welcome. Please come. Please join us.”
The buffet style meal includes 25 volunteers who keep the dinner running smoothly. There is seating both indoors and outdoors for those who attend.
The next shrimp dinner will be held the first Saturday of November.
The dinner is a fundraiser for the church and helps in many capacities. Miller said it provides funds for the loss they experienced with Hurricane Irma.
“Our losses did not exceed our deductible,” he said.
The funds will also go towards remodeling and renovations, as well as other physical projects they are catching up around the church.
“It goes to outreach too,” Miller said.
