‘Blue Macaw’ featured drink for fundraiser at Parrot Key

Stop by Parrot Key Caribbean Grill and enjoy the “Blue Macaw” throughout the month of April to help support the Children’s Advocacy Center during National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
“When the Children’s Advocacy Center reached out to us about their campaign, we whole heartedly committed to helping,” owner of Parrot Key Caribbean Grill Matt Hanson said in a prepared statement. “As a family business in Fort Myers, we want to do all we can to protect the most vulnerable members of our community the children.”
Parrot Key will donate 50 percent of the proceeds from its signature cocktail the “Blue Macaw,” which is the featured cocktail during April, to the Children’s Advocacy Center. The cocktail is made with coconut tequila, blue curacao, pineapple juice and sour mix.
Marketing Director David Kastan said Kellie Burns with NBC2 News, who is friends with the owner, reached out to them to see if they wanted to participate in the National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
“They were looking for any restaurant to be apart of the cause,” he said, adding that he was told they are the only restaurant participating.
A few days into April, Kastan said the fundraiser is going great so far. The servers are doing everything they can to sell the cocktail for the cause and are inspired by the fundraiser.
“The more money we raise, the more help we can give,” he said.
