Grand Jury indicts suspect in death of Beach library director
The Lee County Grand Jury convened Tuesday and indicted Adam Mitchell Soules, 36, for one count of premeditated first degree murder in the death of Fort Myers Beach librarian Leroy Christ Hommerding.
Hommerding, 69, was stabbed to death outside of the library on Jan. 20 as he opened the facility for a weekend book sale.
Witnesses chased Soules to the nearby Topp’s building, where police apprehended him.
Soules, who was charged with homicide (murder depraved without premeditation) and aggravated battery (person uses a deadly weapon), was set for a first appearance on the new charge on Wednesday.
He remains in the Lee County Jail with no bond set on the homicide charge.
His arraignment is set for Feb. 11.
