Town Council decides on three items in short meeting
This week’s Town Council meeting was short, with only three agenda items to vote on:
* Passed ordinance 18-18, which amended regulations in the land development code regarding special magistrates. It states that special magistrates will be appointed by town council, will serve in an ex-officio capacity if working for other local governments, and will have a term limit of 2 years, with the option of being reappointed by council.
* Approved a special event application that will allow the Mound House to sell beer at its Dec 15 Christmas Market
* Approved a contract with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for extra holiday traffic detail at the base of the bridge. The Sheriff’s Office has raised its rates by $8 per hour, meaning the Town will pay $60,742 for seasonal morning and afternoon duty as of Jan. 10, 2019.
