“It’s Raining Cats and Dogs” was the winning get-up at the first ever Yappy Howl-o-ween costume contest. Pets and their owners gathered in their best ensembles at Nervous Nellie’s on Oct. 31 in hopes of winning the grand prize of two free tickets on the Key West Express. Stephanie and Stacy O’Dell, with their two pups Maximus and Julian, stole the show. The event was sponsored by Pet Supplies Plus, with Roof and Rufus Rescue and Doghouse Rescue Academy giving away treats and accepting donations. Carrie Kendzior of Doghouse Rescue dressed her adoptable pup Ellie as a unicorn in hopes of finding her a forever home. The training-based rescue group currently has 18 dogs available for adoption.
