Fort Myers Beach Fire Department to hold 9-11 memorial
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Fort Myers Beach Fire Department cordially invites the community to attend a short memorial ceremony at Fire Station 33, located at 121 Lenell Road. Fire Station 33 is the home to our community’s 9-11 memorial which houses a piece of structural steel from the World Trade Center Tower Two. In 2010, the fire department was awarded two pieces of structural I-beams. One of these pieces was used in the construction of the Fire Station 33 memorial, the other was divided and placed on the exteriors of all Fort Myers Beach Fire Department facilities.
The memorial ceremony will begin on Sept. 11, promptly at 8:30 a.m., all visitors are asked to please arrive a few minutes before the scheduled time of the memorial. Late arriving visitors are asked to please remain in their vehicles if arriving during the changing of the Honor Guard, or placement of the memorial wreath.
