Mound House quizzes Chamber membership
Mound House Director Alison Giesen spoke to the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce for the second time in a year Thursday, updating members about the goings-on at the island’s historical site.
Giesen highlighted the importance of several local partnerships in some of the Mound House’s successes this year. The Mound House partners with Fish Tale Marina to give tours of Mound Key, a historic island in Estero Bay. It also tours with a river charter that sails down the Caloosahatchee River to Estero Bay and makes a stop at the historical site.
Giesen talked about the Mound House’s new programs, such as family kayak tours and the newest education session, Breakfast on the Beach with a Biologist, hosted by education programmer Dexter Norris. This program, which meets at the Newton Park House once a month, has a specific biology theme each session ranging from shorebirds to crows and sea turtles to snakes.
As always, Giesen prepared a few trivia questions about the Mound House. This time, however, she had Norris read them: Norris hosts trivia at the Brass Tap in Estero on Wednesdays.
