School’s almost out! Here are the local camps.
+Bay Oaks Summer Camp
Bay Oaks Summer Camps run weekly, Monday through Friday, from June 5 to Aug. 4.
The weekly rate is $75 per week for Bay Oaks members or $100 per week for non-members. Cost includes all trips and activities, a t-shirt, and lunch and snacks. Camp hours are 7:30 a.m.to 6 p.m. For children 6 years through 13 years old. The 6-year-olds must be turning 6 on or before Sept. 1 of this year.
Each day at camp is packed with a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, as well as field trips to local sites like the Mound House and Sun and Fun Water Park. Activies include pool days, kayaking, arts and crafts and more.

Bay Oaks is also offering “fun days” from May 30 to June 2, the week between school’s end and Bay Oaks summer camp beginning. Call Bay Oaks for more information.
+Sailing camp at the Mound House
Sailing camp is running its 11th year this summer, from June 19 through Jun 23. Camp is Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. To 3:30 p.m. At the Mound House. The camp is $200. Students must be 8 to 11 years old; must be able to swiml and should have a fitted personal floatation device (PFD) and wear close-toed shoes.
Learn the fundamentals of sailing and/or continue to perfect your skills on the water. Taught by USSailing certified instructors and junior instructors, students will learn how to rig, launch and sail their boat independently. Throughout the two-week session, students will be introduced to nautical terms, how to tie basic knots, and develop an awareness and appreciation for safety afloat. Elements of STEM initiatives (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) are embedded in instruction.

+Ostego Bay Foundation marine camps
The Ostego Bay Foundation, Inc., offers six weeks of week-long camps. Camps run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.to 4 p.m. The cost is $250 per camper, which includes all instructional material and a graduation lunch on Friday. Students need to bring lunch and something to drink Mondays through Thursdays. Sea Stars camp is for kindergarten age through 8 years old; Loggerheads Camp is for 9 through 11 years old; and Tiger Sharks Camp is age 12 and older.
This year’s schedule is June 12-16 and June 26-30, Loggerheads; July 10-14, Sea Stars & Loggerheads; July 17-21 Tiger Sharks; and July 24-28 Sea Stars & Loggerheads. The week of June 19-23 is full.
Let your student explore the beautiful barrier islands and the waters of Estero Bay. Field and beach trips will introduce campers to sea grass communities, plankton populations, mangrove tangles and bird nesting areas. The foundation’s staff are state-certified teachers and offer a wide diversity of expertise providing highly personalized instruction.
