Fort Myers Beach goes green — for luck

It’s time to dig out whatever green clothing you’ve got!

The 19th annual Fort Myers Beach Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will be held Friday, March 17.

Ray Murphy, the parade chairman, said the parade would be business as usual: entrants will gather in the Santini Marina parking lot from 8:30 to 9 a.m., and the parade will begin at 10 a.m. The parade route will travel north on Estero Boulevard to the Church of The Ascension and will last about an hour.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Traffic will be stopping from 9:45 to 11 a.m., so Murphy suggests islanders should plan ahead if they’re not going to watch the parade.

The parade welcomes color guards; civic, business and neighborhood groups; floats and musical bands. Contact Murphy for information on registration and entry fees at 591-8803 or raymurphy6@aol.com.
