FMB fire search reveals body found

A body and the corpse of a dog were recovered Monday from the wreckage of a duplex fire that happened Sunday night.
Firefighters with the Fort Myers Beach Fire Department responded to the residential fire at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, and reported an explosion at 3748 Estero Blvd.
When firefighters arrived, the duplex was fully engulfed.
Two people were transported to the hospital.
Four fire departments, along with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Lee County EMS, worked the scene.
The fire was extinguished and the State Fire Marshal assumed the fire investigation, according to the police report.
According to Beach Fire Capt. Ron Martin, the District’s fire marshal, officials have been unable to determine the cause of the fire, but located an unidentified human body and a dog body in the fire remains during a search through the burned debris on Monday.
The investigation is ongoing.
A woman who resided in one side of the duplex has been reported missing since the fire erupted. Fire officials reported she lived there with multiple pets, but have been unable to make contact with her.
The medical examiner expected to have the body identified by Tuesday afternoon. Visit fortmyersbeachtalk.com for additional information as it is released.
