Bay Oaks to host craft beer festival Saturday
A planned benefit craft beer festival at Bay Oaks Recreational Campus is coming to fruition this Saturday.
The Fort Myers Beach Craft Beer Festival is slated to be held at the 2731 Oak Street location from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
The fundraiser is expected to raise roughly $12,000 in revenue for Bay Oaks youth and teen programs. The event site will mimic the Taste of the Beach (when it was held on campus) as far as positioning, with beer vendors and food vendors around the recreational center in the shady areas of the oak trees. Live entertainment can be expected in a “fenced-in” participation area as well.
Cost of tickets is $30 per person over the age of 21 for 16 four-ounce samples. You can purchase tickets online at www.eventbrite.com .
The main sponsor is Suncoast Beverage Sales. Other sponsors include Fish-Tale Marina and contributors Fat Point Brewing, Old Soul Brewing, Naples Beach Brewery, Big Top Brewing Company, Fort Myers Brewing Company, Red White & Brew Beverage and Point Ybel Brewing Company.
These brewing companies are donating their product to get their name out to Beach residents, businesses and visitors.
“It would be a chance for island residents to check out specialty beers in the area as well as local restaurant owners to possibly get some local beers into their establishments,” said Bay Oaks Recreational Coordinator Kyle Karczewski, the event coordinator, earlier.
Live entertainment will be provided by Railhead.
A home brew contest is also in the works. That contest will show off in-house operations and product and possibly be the starting grounds for a new brewer.
