American Sand Sculpting Championship closes Wednesday, reopens Thursday
The 28th Annual American Sand Sculpting Championship, the largest sand sculpting competition in the state of Florida, will be closed today as organizers look to reset and restore the event site due to flooding and high winds last night.
The closure is temporary and the event, including sculptures will reopen for the public to enjoy tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 27. The event will continue in full effect for the remainder of the schedule, through Sunday, Nov. 30.
The Masters Doubles Competition and the State Championships will still take place from Nov. 28 until Nov. 30, as will the other activities including: the kids zone, sand sculpting demonstrations, photo opportunities and live music every afternoon, plus more.

The 28th Annual American Sand Sculpting Competition will once again be at the Wyndham Garden Hotel located at 6890 Estero Boulevard on Fort Myers Beach. Attendees are encouraged to arrive from the south in order to avoid traffic congestion. Event directors have coordinated free parking with a revolving bus system to transport attendees from the Lover’s Key parking area to the site.
