Vocalist Gary Clark sings big band tunes at Chapel today

The first of the concerts in the 2011/2012 Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church Concert Series will be held this Sunday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. There will be a free will offering. Call 463-3173 for more information.

Vocalist Gary Clark will present a concert of big band tunes with lyrics you can understand.

Currently, Gary shares his vocal talent with the First Christian Church of Fort Myers. He began singing at the age of five at radio station WIKY in Evansville, Indiana, as a guest of his father who sang in a gospel quartet.

Clark has a BA degree, vocal major, from the University of Evansville. As part of the local music scene, we are pleased to welcome him to Fort Myers Beach. If you like the musical styles of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Andy Williams, James Taylor, Lou Rawls, and gospel this is the concert for you.

The rest of the 2011/2012 Concert Series dates have been set. Be sure to save the dates for these afternoon concerts. All concerts are on Sundays at 2 p.m. and have free will offerings. n On Jan. 22 – Tradition and Youth Come Together Joyce Waltman, Dulcimer and Fiddle, Young Pianists, and Selena Masters, Soprano. This concert will both educate and entertain us as we begin with learning about and hearing the Appalachian dulcimer. This is a rare treat! The fiddle will then be featured followed by young pianists. Selena Masters joins us. She is a senior in high school who has won vocal competitions at the local, state, and national levels. Free will offering.

– On Feb. 12 – All About Love Encore Performance Vocalists: Jo List (accompanied by Joe McConaghy) and Terry Stewart, Pianists: Michael and Elena Melnikov, and a special appearance by Dr. Eduard Gulabyan, cellist. This concert is back by popular demand and is sure to please with both classical and popular music performed with love. Free will offering.

– On March 4 – Indian Creek Chorus with Neil Fichthorn, Director. This vocal group is composed of 70 voices and presents a program of pops, humorous songs, classics, anthems, gospel songs, and patriotic music. Free will offering.

– On March 25 Julian Toha Pianist Infinite Potential Tour. Known for his passionate performances and technical command, pianist Julian Toha has inspired audiences throughout the United States and abroad. This acclaimed young artist presents dazzling performances with multimedia visuals. Free will offering.
