Lee County Fishing Pier at Lynn Hall Memorial Park to close for repairs
The public fishing pier on Fort Myers Beach located at Lynn Hall Memorial Park will close for repairs Monday, Nov. 14 through Friday, Nov. 18, to complete scheduled maintenance to the walk-surface area of the pier.
The restoration project is funded by the Tourist Development Council and will cost approximately $1 million. The scheduled maintenance began in July 2011 and will continue through January 2012. .
The project includes replacement of the wood railing along the pier and the dune walkovers, replacing the water lines and electrical conduit and wiring along the pier in addition to recoating the walking surface with traffic bearing membrane. Improvements will also take place to the piling and under side of the fishing pier.
The walk-surface repairs will include a new aggregate top coating that will be waterproof and provide a non-skid surface.
The maintenance is funded through the Tourist Development Council. Local subcontractors are performing all associated work.
Anglers and visitors are welcome to use the fishing pier under the Matanzas Bridge on Matanzas Bridge Fishing Pier off of San Carlos Island. A saltwater fishing license is required for Florida residents who saltwater fish from shore, however there is no fee for the license for Florida residents.
