Next week, Beach Elementary School will hit the books for a Family Fun Night during Scholastics Book Fair Week.

The event that will take place in the school media center and on school grounds on Nov. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. and will feature Beach Elementary’s annual Book Fair for the purchase of books and school supplies.

“This is a good time to knock off gifts on that holiday shopping list,” said Jackie DeMilia, technology/media support specialist at the Beach school.

With a theme of “To the Book Fair and Beyond: Reading is out of this World,” the Family Fun Night will involve activities as well as snacks and refreshments.

“A good time will be had by all on Family Fun Night,” said DeMilia. “The main focus is to purchase books from the Book fair to raise funds for the Media Center.”

According to DeMilia, there will be a surprise book character visitation as well. Last year, Clifford the Dog made an appearance.

The Beach school presented a SuperHeroes theme in 2010. Local heroes from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Fort Myers Beach Fire Department were invited to help get the point across.
