St. Raphael’s to host homecoming event
Historic St. Raphael’s Church is continuing its 6 months of celebration with a special Homecoming Sunday on Oct. 30.
“For many years, our parish has celebrated St. Raphael’s Day with a homecoming event where we invite all former parishioners to return to St. Raphael’s to celebrate with us,” stated Judy Michie, a long time member of St. Raphael’s.
St. Raphael’s Day is observed during the last week in October, and this year the parish is planning a special breakfast after the 10 a.m. service.
“This is a wonderful time for people to get together and socialize with friends that they may not have seen in a while,” said Bob Bunting, senior warden.
In observation of the 60th anniversary of the parish, Historic St Raphael’s is planning one event per month through March 2012. Last month, the Town of Fort Myers Beach presented the parish with an Historic Designation Plaque in a special ceremony held on Sept. 29.
