On Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a vehicle burglary. The incident occurred two days previously while the victim’s vehicle was parked on Fort Myers Beach at the public access near Strandview Avenue. A report was completed by an Alternate Response Officer and forwarded to detectives with Sheriff’s Office Charlie District who are continuing the investigation.

The investigation reveals the victim’s wallet was stolen from the vehicle. Debit and credit cards were in the wallet and subsequently used at various locations for purchases totaling more than $500 hundred dollars. Once the fraudulent purchases were discovered, the victim canceled the cards and the suspect was unsuccessful at additional attempts to use them.

Detectives have obtained surveillance footage of the white male suspect using the cards at a local supermarket and a drug store. Anyone who can identify the subject is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at (239) 477-1000 or, to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS(8477).
