LCSO reports crystal meth seized in traffic stop
On Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at approximately 5:20 p.m., a detective with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Highway Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop of a 2010, Toyota Corolla on I-75 at mile marker 125 in Bonita Springs. The driver had committed a traffic violation.
The detective proceeded to check the validity of the driver’s California operator’s license and issue a written warning during which time he observed indicators of criminal activity. The detective’s K9 partner, Cole, was utilized and alerted to the trunk of the car. Subsequently, a search of the vehicle confirmed a large amount of crystal methamphetamine inside.
The investigation reveals the driver, 46-year-old Nelson Cedeno Dominguez, was traveling from Miami to Tampa when he was stopped. The weight of the illegal methamphetamine, packaged for delivery, was approximately pound with an estimated street value of $20,000 dollars. He has been charged as follows:
