Ostego Bay seeks volunteers
Ostego Bay Marine Science Center is calling on you to participate in the “greening” of our island. Cooler days are just beginning and you are probably thinking of new and different activities to get involved in this year.
Why not do something fun, maybe educational and, at the same time, contribute to the community by participating in activities and/or events.
Our local marine environment is always in need of people who are interested in making a positive contribution to our local community by donating some time (probably just a few hours) a week for the enhancement and preservation of our marine life, including the local coastal areas.
If you like hiking or just being outdoors, you might want to help keep our local nature trail attractive and fit or, perhaps, you might like to be a guide in the area (training provided).
At the Marine Science Center, you can help maintain aquariums, feed the fish and otherwise take care of our sea life. Docents are also needed to conduct daily tours at the museum (training will also be provided). We also offer opportunities for fund raising, writing grants and preparation of flyers, newsletters, brochures and press releases.
Or, if you prefer office work, we need clerical assistance. You might be surprised at how much you can learn by being in the museum. Give us a call at 765-8101 for further information or check our website at www.ostegobay.org
