Repeat teen offender added to Crime Stoppers Most Wanted List
A Fort Myers teenager, who’s been arrested on charges ranging from premeditated homicide to burglary, has been added to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers 10 Most Wanted list this afternoon, now accused of his role in a violent incident this past Sunday, July 17th.
Jarquel Jenkins, DOB 9/18/91, is wanted on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to detectives, Jenkins approached a group of men standing in a driveway this past Sunday. Jenkins immediately assaulted the victim, while pointing a gun at him. The victim said he didn’t resist, for fear of being shot. The victim said he knew Jenkins, and was well aware of his criminal history, and his tendency to be violent. After a witness intervened, Jenkins left the area, still armed with a handgun.
Jenkins is no stranger to law enforcement, having been jailed for several violent crimes in the last few years. Known on the streets as “Cricket,” Jenkins was first arrested at age 18 for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. In 2009, he was arrested for two counts of premeditated homicide. A witness in that case said her boyfriend and roommate were both shot in the head by Jenkins during a violent tirade. However those charges were later dropped. Just two months later, he was arrested again for burglary and theft, for which he spent nearly a month and a half in the Lee County Jail. Then, in 2010, he served nearly seven months behind bars on charges of burglary, battery, kidnapping, theft and
three counts of assault with the intent to commit violence. All three victims in that case were able to positively identify Jenkins as their attacker, however charges were once again dropped before Jenkins could be brought to trial.
Prior to his latest accusation, Jenkins was arrested in May for attempted burglary, for which he spent two days in jail, before posting a $20,000 bond.
Detectives say Jenkins should be considered armed and dangerous, and may be hiding out in the Harlem Heights area of Lee County. Jenkins is 5’6″, 160 pounds, with a tattoo on his right wrist.
