PHOTO PROVIDED Volunteers are needed on the Beach for post-fireworks cleanup next Tuesday. As you can see, July 5 has been called the worst “Dirty Day” of our beaches.

The July 5th Post Firework Cleanup on Fort Myers Beach and surrounding areas is a tedious job. Fort Myers Beach Community Foundation, Keep Lee County Beautiful and the Park’s Department work together with volunteers to pick up discarded fireworks and other trash that remains after an evening of celebration.

With that said, volunteers are needed between 8 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the three following sites to hand out supplies, bags and gloves and to help pick up these remains.

– Newton Park

– Crescent Family Beach Park

– Bunche Beach

While everyone enjoys our Independence Day celebration, please consider these organizations with this job. For additional information on how you can help, please call Alice Plaatje at 463-0626.
