Boating burglar busted in the act
Detectives are on the hunt for a man who broke into a boat harbored at a marina in North Fort Myers early Sunday morning, but was busted by the boat’s owner before he could do any damage.
Surveillance video shows a white male, in his mid 20s, creeping through a boat docked at 3446 Marinatown Lane, North Fort Myers, around 6:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4th. The boat’s owner, who was asleep in the bottom cabin, heard a noise on top of the boat, as did the owner’s dog. The victim unlocked the door between the upper and lower decks, and spotted the male, who was sporting a backpack and carrying a flashlight. When the victim asked the man what he was doing, the suspect said he was simply looking for a restroom to use. The male quickly took off, leaving the flashlight behind. Deputies were immediately dispatched to the scene, however the suspect was nowhere to be found.
After inquiring with individuals in the area, an employee at the marina’s store stated that he had chased a male, bearing the same description, off the property the week prior.
